Old Showroom Floor

Our old showroom used to be located in Old Town Clovis (Clovis, Ca,) and in that showroom we laid one of the most beautiful floors.

This is a Hickory floor, with a Maple and Walnut feature strip.

We are no longer in the showroom where this floor is located, however if you drive through Old Town Clovis, you may just be able to sneak a peek.

Why You Shouldn't Buy Hardwood Floors From A Carpet Store

Most carpet salesmen are not wood workers. If they were they would not be selling something like this:

(Figure A)

They'd be selling you something like this:
 (Figure B)

(Photo above is showing a comparison between Figure A and Figure B.)

True wood workers/ floorwrights should have direct relationship with wood mills in their local area that can mill wood to homeowners and builders' specs. Purchasing a floor through a reputable wood flooring contractor will ensure the investment of a quality floor will last the lifetime of the home.

Carpet stores will tell you that a veneered ware layer with a 50 year warranty is sufficient...DON'T BUY IT. The quality of a wood floor is in the sandable surface.

I also find it hard to trust a carpet store salesman who cannot identify the species of wood they're selling without the label on the sample- that should be a red flag.

Prep Work for a Red Oak Floor

We are working in a home in Woodward Lake (Fresno, Ca,) and the prep work has been going smoothly.

We are laying a Red Oak floor in their kitchen, a bedroom, and a hallway. Then we are sanding, staining, and refinishing their living room, formal dining room, and another hallway.

From the living room and into the kitchen.

Stain samples on the homeowner's floor to see what stain they wanted on their Red Oak floor; they decided on a 50/50- a mix of Early American and Golden Oak.

After photos to come!

Finished.

This job has been a really neat one. We're working in a home in Visalia that is absolutely stunning; it's located on a huge piece of land, and the family we are working with are cattle farmers. In their home as of now, we are working in their kitchen, some of their hallways, their pantry and their closet. The floor is an Impregnated Oak floor and it's turning out super nice.
Here's just a small portrait that I took of it. Love the detail in the wood. Super sweet!
